Learn French at Alpadia Lyon

Our school is in the heart of the city’s cultural and festive life in Lyon’s centre. The beautiful 19th century building is located on the “Presqu’île” (peninsula), overlooking the Rhône and a short walk from the Saône.

The school has spacious and bright classrooms with high ceilings. The WIFI network means you can read your emails and surf for free on one of the in-house computers.

Only a stone’s throw away from the biggest square in Lyon, straight after class you can soak up the atmosphere in the numerous nearby cafés and restaurants, where Lyon’s students meet. The school has direct access to the best pedestrian shopping areas in Lyon and there is a subway station and a bus stop less than five minutes walk away from the school.

Courses

Alpadia Lyon offers a lively and interactive atmosphere for learning French. With great teachers who know how to infuse you with motivation and bring humour to the classes, you will be able to take advantage of a friendly environment and engaging lessons. Your language level is assessed following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). As you take your language test before arriving at school, you will begin your first morning already in the correct class!

Only a 10 minute walk to the main train station and 20 minutes from the school, our spacious and bright loft apartment is composed of a living room, fully-equipped kitchen, four double or single bedrooms, a shared bathroom and two private bathrooms. Véronique is in charge of Alpadia Lyon. She manages both the administrative and teaching teams of the school.

She holds a Master’s degree in French as a Foreign Language and a Master’s degree in Cultural Development. After completing her studies, Véronique spent three years teaching French in Nepal and Slovakia. After that, she was employed by the Alliance Française in Mauritania to manage the educational and cultural mission, later flying to Afghanistan to train both male and female teachers of French. Between these travels, Véronique worked in France, including as a Junior Camp Manager. Véronique joined our team in 2011.

Anne-Sophie is in charge of student accommodation as well as general student service and support at Alpadia Lyon. She studied in Lyon and La Rochelle, where she completed a master's degree in Foreign Languages before (interning at an Oxford-based charity) and working in China for 3 years, mainly as translator for a Chinese news website. She then taught French to Brazilian students while learning Portuguese in Sao Paulo, took some time to explore the country, and finally flew back to her hometown to join Alpadia Lyon in March 2017.

Arnaud has been teaching at Alpadia Lyon for almost 3 years and in April 2017 he took over the Student Support position. Before that, he taught French in Mexico for 2 years, which changed his life. So why did he come back to the land of cheese and wine? The answer lies hidden in the question!

Marion is a French teacher at Alpadia Lyon since 2007. She has a Masters in French as a Foreign Language and in English. Before Alpadia, she taught in a college at Wimbledon and in the pedagogic University Brno, Czech Republic and in numerous other public and private institutions to adults and adolescents.
